Umashankar Velusamy, Senior Member Technical Staff at Verizon, presents the Digital Marketplace Catalyst, on behalf of the groups's service provider champions. Verizon is one of six telco "champions" of the Digital Marketplace catalyst, so why did they all decide to be part of this particular project – the largest catalyst project to date from the TM Forum?
The lack of a universal template for onboarding VNFs is a major and pressing roadblock to carrier virtualisation and the catalyst tackles the issue with an multi-SDO based approach – including ETSI NFV, TOSCA and TMF Open API concepts. This third phase of this project expands the work to include an ONAP integration, the ecosystem of vendors, the scope of onboarded VNFs and network service use cases.
