Connectedness is enabling a burgeoning of monitoring activity mostly via phone apps, says Stephen. Things like disease monitoring, adverse event monitoring for drugs, therapy monitoring. “To be able to connect those will be fantastic and that’s the area that we’re moving towards now,” he says. “There’s a huge scope for using the technologies to monitor and treat long term conditions - asthma, diabetes and coronary heart disease - these are the conditions which are currently hugely costly for health systems and they’ll all want to use technology to optimise therapy,” he says.
