Markus Wuepping, Head of Cloud Centre of Excellence, Vodafone

Telcos no longer want to compete on infrastructure, they now want to focus on their differentiated services, hence the move to create a telco community to solve common problems jointly. The Common NFVi Telco Taskforce (CNTT) is such an example, set up in early 2019 and now expanded to include vendor contributors. But whilst virtualization delivers a lot of benefit, telcos are going to require Cloud Native technologies to be able to scale their cloud-based services. Vodafone sees the key to success as being collaboration, working within the open source community and alongside other telcos and vendors with a defined release schedule and lifecycle management in place, being consistent and focused on the needs of the CSPs.
