Cloud ran technology is transforming the telecom landscape and as the industry moves toward virtualized network architectures, strategic partnerships are becoming increasingly vital. Joining me to discuss one such collaboration are Tomi Bergholm, Nokia Cloud Ran marketing manager and Mikko Sipila Nokia account manager at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Welcome to both of you. Tomi. I'm going to start with you. Describe the solution Nokia and HPE are showcasing here at MWC.

Tomi Bergholm, Nokia (00:35):
First of all, we have been working long time together and mobile work congress. We have also been working together both in HPE booth and Nokia booth. We have a cloud run demo. That cloud run demo then shows our capabilities to deliver 5G technology to our customers.

Clarence Reynolds, TelecomTV (00:53):
So Mikko, how do you see the outlook for cloud ran and what are the key drivers for its adoption?

Mikko Sipila, HPE (00:59):
Cloud RAN is a promising technology with a positive outlook. The drivers for the cloud run are that the network processing is moving to the edge. It's also that it's future proof technology, programmable as well as scalable. Then it also gives operators possibility to optimize their resource utilization as they move their operations on the cloud run.

Clarence Reynolds, TelecomTV (01:27):
So how do HPE and Nokia's strengths come together in your cloud RAN solution?

Tomi Bergholm, Nokia (01:33):
Nokia is delivering the radio technology and the base band technology, which we are combining together with the HP IT technology. When these two put together, we have a fully working solution which our customers can use, our customers can benefit that we have predefined solutions which offer fast time to market, making it really faster and efficient to set up those 5G networks. In addition, Nokia is providing the feature party with our proposed point and our cloud and solutions, which then helps our customers to build the networks. And together we also have capability to have single management systems where we are operating the whole cloud run and even the core networks together with one single system.

Clarence Reynolds, TelecomTV (02:24):
Mikko. What do you see as the significant accomplishments of this collaboration?

Mikko Sipila, HPE (02:28):
Well, it's really the collaboration between, in two parties. We have jointly worked for several years to bring this cloud run solution to the market. We have tested and validated and now we see that we are moving from the pilot phase to the commercial deployments and that I feel is the greatest achievement for this year. So we are bringing an innovative solution to the market as we come from the different industry directions. We really bring the innovation as different opinions and different industry scales get together. So that is what I'm thinking.
