AT&T has been collaborating with VMware on software defined networking, NFV and cloud security, and is now focusing on the next transformational technologies – 5G and edge computing. Leveraging their work on SD-WAN, they are looking to create a truly differentiated 5G offering for enterprise customers.

AT&T is also seeing a shift from more monolithic applications sitting in one location to more distributed models. SD-WAN facilitates this by enabling high performance, secure access to applications anywhere, and the combination of this and 5G promises to extend and enhance this trend. Increasingly, it's going to be a combination of technology business models that are going to make it more agile for CSPs like AT&T to deliver services as well as for customers to consume those services.

Featuring:

  • Josh Goodell, Vice President, Intelligent Edge, AT&T
  • Shekar Ayyar, EVP Strategy and GM Telco Business Unit, VMware

Filmed at MWC19, Barcelona, Spain
