Breno Lima, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development & Global Strategy, Ormuco

Ornuco, out of Montreal, Canada, originally provided managed services to some of the world's top gaming companies that had discovered they could not rely on public cloud infrastructure to work with their developers and users all over the world, mainly because of inherent problems of performance and latency of public clouds. As a result they were spending massive sums on data centre infrastructure. Some 85 per cent of all work loads cannot go over public clouds because of compliance and security issues and as Breno Lima points out, the cloud is a delivery mechanism, not a destination in itself. This state of affairs spurred Ormuco into developing a hybrid cloud platform using OpenStack, (which sits safely inside the data centre 'cage') and containers to address the needs of both enterprises and CSPs.
