How can CSPs address the key challenges in OpenStack when deploying MEC (Multi-Access Edge Computing)? MEC architectures have unique characteristics, which also introduce new elements and issues when CSPs start to deploy networks. OpenStack offers an open source solution to running MEC infrastructure, but it is not necessarily the right solution. As Vanessa Little of VMware explains, there are a number of important features that MEC needs that are currently missing from OpenStack, which gives CSPs the dilemma of either adding new features themselves or switching to an entirely new design. Alternatively, there are  “stop-gap” solutions that CSPs could use until the challenges mentioned are addressed in the OpenStack core.
