Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM), today announced that its premium mobile platform is powering Google's latest and most advanced smartphone lineup, the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The new Pixel 2 series is powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon- 835 Mobile Platform, which is the first commercial SoC manufactured using 10nm FinFET technology, reducing its power usage by up to 25 percent compared to the previous generation flagship processor. The SoC also features the latest generation of Qualcomm® Adreno- 540 GPU, which delivers up to 25 percent faster graphics rendering compared to the previous generation.

The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL deliver the best possible photos and videos by utilizing Google's extensive photography and imaging capabilities as well as optimizations in the integrated Qualcomm Spectra- 180 ISP and Qualcomm® Hexagon- 682 DSP inside the Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform. Users will enjoy stunningly crisp, clear and detailed photos in any light, as well as high-quality portrait shots with the perfect background blurs, from both the front and back camera. New motion photos also capture a few seconds of video around the shot so you can relive the moment around the picture. Finally, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL combines both optical and electronic video stabilization, giving users remarkably smooth video capture.

The integrated Snapdragon X16 LTE modem in Snapdragon 835 and Qualcomm Technologies' RF Front End components help support the Pixel 2's blazing fast download speeds over 4G LTE, along with 4x4 MIMO technology, which supports superior signal quality, improved coverage, fewer dropped calls and up to 70% higher download speeds compared to devices without 4 way antenna diversity implemented. The integrated 2x2 11ac Wi-Fi with MU-MIMO offers twice as much throughput for maximum coverage compared to devices with 1x1 Wi-Fi, especially in homes and offices with brick and concrete walls. Additionally, BT5, supports doubled peak speed and extended coverage compared to previous generation.

[The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL leverage the on-device machine learning compute capabilities of the Snapdragon 835 Mobile platform, with an emphasis on Hexagon Vector eXtentions (HVX) for accelerating Tensorflow-enabled features in a power efficient manner. The Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform was designed to support a broad range of on-device machine learning features including intelligent photography, more effective security and privacy protection, smart automobiles and personal assistants, and responsive and true-to-life VR/AR.

Google's Pixel 2 benefits from additional high-res wireless audio codecs - Qualcomm® aptX- and aptX HD. In addition to supporting a greater dynamic range than other codecs, aptX HD is engineered to improve the signal-to-noise ratio, resulting in lower background noise.

"We are thrilled to have worked with Google to help deliver the most advanced mobile experiences available on a smartphone today, including superior imaging capabilities, neural networks, fast connectivity speeds, biometric security and superior device performance," said Alex Katouzian, senior vice president and general manager, mobile, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. "Many of the intelligent technologies featured in the Pixel 2 experience are enhanced by the Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform."

The Google Pixel 2 is available for pre-order now.
