Driven by a keen interest on how technology can be applied to address real-world problems, and a with background very firmly in the Service Provider community, Paul Adams now leads part of the Strategic Marketing team at Alcatel-Lucent. Having started his career at Cable and Wireless, Paul then joined Colt in its very early years. Subsequently at Newbridge Networks, and post-acquisition with Alcatel, Paul helped Service Providers across EMEA develop, launch and market innovative services using data networking technologies, and latterly ran channel marketing in North America. Paul then spent several years as an independent marketing consultant to the ICT industry, before heading up EMEA marketing for the IP division of Ericsson. Paul finally returned to Alcatel-Lucent in 2009, where he has held a number of roles including as Marketing Director for the BT Global Account.

Richard is a Systems Engineer who works on innovating alongside BT to best serve their end customers with their Digital Transformation journeys. Coming from a software background, his interest in Machine Learning & AI began during his Computer Science degree at Royal Holloway leading to the creation of an AI system that answered questions on Privacy Policies in relation to privacy legislation. He enjoys finding solutions to problems through technology, seeing digitisation as an overlay on the physical world to interface with and reduce the complexity of the modern world. Before his time at Cisco, Richard was an AWS DevOps Engineer in the energy sector as well as an Embedded Systems C Developer for an IoT start up. In a previous life, he worked in financial law.

Detlef Nauck is the Head of AI and Data Science Research for BT's Applied Research Division located at Adastral Park, Ipswich, UK. Detlef leads a programme spanning the work of 30 international researchers who develop capabilities underpinning modern AI systems. A key part of the work is to establish best practices in Data Science and Machine Learning for conducting data analytics professionally and responsibly leading to new ways of analysing data for achieving better insights.

Detlef is a computer scientist by training and holds a PhD and a Postdoctoral Degree (Habilitation) in Machine Learning and Data Analytics. He is a Visiting Professor at Bournemouth University and a Private Docent at the Otto-von-Guericke University of Magdeburg, Germany. He has published 3 books, over 120 papers, holds 9 patents and has 30 active patent applications.
