Andrew Coward, CEO, Lumina Networks

Silicon Valley start-up Lumina Networks, having successfully completed its Series A funding round and raising US$10 million, will use the money on the development of new products and geographic expansion in Europe and Japan.

Company founder and CEO Andrew Coward says "Open Source is of increasing importance in the automation and digitization of CSP networks and there is a real need and demand for easily-deployable Open Source SDN".

A committed proponent of OpenDaylight and strong supporter of partnerships with CSPs and traditional telcos, Andrew Coward freely admits that the greater vendor community is somewhat ambivalent about Lumina's approach to the market saying that while some see the company as a friend, others regard it as a potential foe.
