LI Kai describes his company - 99 Cloud - as a pure OpenStack player from China with abundant experience to pass on to the telecoms industry. He talks with Guy Daniels about about ETSI reference standards for mobile edge computing (MEC) which comprise a framework for edge computing. He explains how several open source projects are important starting points for the ultimate development of edge solutions. In the future, the says, telcos will need to deploy different flavours of edge so they will need a unified platform to manage them.
