George Tchaparian, CEO, Edgecore

Switching specialist Edgecore is taking its experience from being an early support of the Open Compute Program (OCP) and applying it to the telecoms sector through its involved with the Telecom Infra Project (TIP). It started with virtual OLT, which provides the access into data centre points, then progressed to edge switching and quickly followed this with its disaggregated cellsite gateway and work on the Cassini coherent optical transponder project. It is now actively supporting mobile operators with their move to 5G Core with the adoption of disaggregated networking. For Edgecore, it’s all about the ecosystem. The company’s core competency is providing hardware infrastructure and enabling software on top, acting as a catalyst to bring together the various open communities, such as TIP and OCP, to connect with operators. Its disaggregated cellsite gateway product brings together multiple partners and developers, but the most important aspect now is how operators embrace and successfully adopt this technology approach.
