The move of computational power from the core to the edge of the network, straight from the base station to the IP network, will be one of the biggest architectural changes of 5G from 4G. As will NFV, which is assumed to be established in 2020 by the time the first 5G networks roll out, and SDN may become the basis for new mobility management.
