Werner Mohr, Chairman, 5G Infrastructure Association

5G-PPP is a research programme within the European Union's Horizon 2020 project, and has commissioned a series of research initiatives that cover the whole network of 5G. The 5G Infrastructure Association represents the industry side of the public-private partnership, but also includes members from areas outside of Europe, in order to achieve a global 5G standard. The research programme was started formally in December 2013, and the first set of 18 projects will commence this coming July and will last up to three years. They will then move through proofs of concept and trials.
