Margaret Chiosi, Distinguished Network Architect, AT&T Labs

To construct a new network based on NFV and SDN, it is first necessary to clear the ground so that the foundations can go in - only then can the all-import superstructure be built on top. That is what is happening now even as as the value propositions of SDN and virtualisation begin to take shape. Current challenges lie in just how the industry converges on the changes required to realise the vision, and OPNFV is the proper venue for that convergence.
