Rolf Eberhardt, Head of Service Orchestration, CMS, Hewlett Packard Enterprise

SDN and NFV might be sweet music to the ears of network equipment manufacturers and vendors but at the moment many service providers can hear little more than a discordant background noise. Without orchestrators available to impose order and bring harmony to the management of NFV services there will be no Music of the New Network Spheres - hence the increasing focus on area such as fulfillment and assurance. And despite the belated realisation that orchestration is vital to the successful commercial uptake of NFV, Rolf Eberhardt believes it will be five years before NFV becomes commercially ubiquitous.
