Some NFV ecosystems are bound to fail - and probably the sooner the better

NFV has come a long way in a little over three years but some people forget that whilst it is evidently a strapping youth it is still, nonetheless a toddler, not a mature adult. Given that, it is unsurprising that there have been some teething troubles with the first - and limited - NFV deployments and that there are many matters yet to resolve before the technology gains mass traction across the world's networks. However, these days such problems are resolved and pitfalls surmounted on an almost daily basis and the future for NFV is bright. And it will be brighter still when the number of proliferating and confusing ecosystems are whittled down as the expansion phase comes to an end and consolidation, concentration and rationalisation set in
