NFV and SDN will grant service providers the ability to target 'verticals' they haven't even thought about, Balamurali tells Martyn Warwick. But their operational and business processes will have to change if they're to grasp the opportunity. Indeed it may be that many SPs will be happy to remain connectivity providers and avoid all the risks, but there will be others who decide that services are worth pursuing, if only to maintain relevance to their users.
