Ariel Efrati. CEO. Telco Systems.

Despite the intense focus on SDN and NFV, Ariel Efrati is convinced that rumours of the impending demise of MPLS are greatly exaggerated. The three technologies complement one another extremely well and MPLS still has a major role to play as a highly efficient transport and encapsulation technology as well as in value added services and virtual private networks. He also warns that while cybersecurity threats are not as yet holding back the commercial deployment of NFV, cognisance must be taken of what are genuine existential threats to global, regional and local networks. He adds that too many people see comms networks security as an extension of traditional IT security methodologies and systems and, as far as SDN and NFV is concerned, nothing could be further from the truth.
