SPs need to make the decision to move to SDN/NFV now, but its not a technology challenge it's an organisational one he says. What's happening to MPLS? It's not going away, says Jim, but will evolve so that application engineered routing will be supported 'on top' - that will enable MPLS to move the network towards being application-centric.
