IDC Opens Smart City Development Index 2016 Research for Public Nominations

SINGAPORE, 11 April, 2016 – IDC Government Insights is opening up its research for public nominations for the Asia Pacific Smart City Development Index 2016. This is in continuation of the successful launch of the Smart City Asia Pacific Awards (SCAPA) in Shenzhen last November 17, 2015.

This year’s SCAPA winners will selected through a rigorous six-step process that involves input from various stakeholders – from the public, IDC Analyst assessment and the International Advisory Council.

In light of requests from our partners and customers, IDC Government Insights included this 2016 Phase 0 for public nominations. This phase aims to give public sector end users, solution providers, and the general public the opportunity to nominate their favorite Smart City projects in Asia Pacific.

"This index was created to help city leaders understand the strategic impact and maturity of their smart city initiatives," states Gerald Wang, Head, Asia Pacific Government, IDC Government Insights. "Last year, we tracked hundreds of smart city initiatives and an eventual 14 projects were named the best in the region in their operational functional domains”.
