We're here with Alexander Valchuk. Alexander, you've been collaborating with BT Research, Deutsche Telekom, Telia on driving business growth with AI enhanced OSS and BSS. Tell us more.
Alexander Valchuk, Ericsson (00:16):
Of course. Thank you very much Richard. We are very excited to be here today on OSS and BSS Summit and to demonstrate the results of our collaboration with the BT Research, Telia and Deutsche Telekom. So in the Catalyst project which we have developed together, we have managed to realize very practical and key scenarios, which are then could be important to realize when it comes to the monetization and operations of the OSS and BSS. So then the use cases which we have identified together with our partners are first of all Network Immune System as a Service and that's basically the use case which allows an operator to be able to monetize not just the differentiated connectivity but security services using the policy driven orchestration of different end-to-end composite advanced services. The second use case is related to the Real-time service assurance and we are demonstrating the way how the assurance component of the overall orchestration framework can be used to guarantee the required performance levels.
(01:17):
And the third use case, which we have developed together with Telia, demonstrates the way how the Agentic AI systems could be used to chat with the OSS applications and then and then to interact with the complex system using natural language. So on the right hand side we see the overall end-to-end architecture of the catalyst project, which we have developed with our partners and it includes three main components. First one is the Ericsson Core Commerce system, which allows an operator actually to sell the connectivity services easily. The second part of the solution is Ericsson Service Orchestration and Assurance product, which basically enables the end-to-end orchestration across the network and then it integrates with the Network Immune System, which is provided by BT Research. And then this overall end-to-end solution enables operator then to actually introduce the automation and then today to start the journey towards the autonomy.
(02:19):
Then let me just quickly explain what are the key technology enablers when it comes to the realization of this whole world of work? First of all is the service orchestration system which is used to manage and to orchestrate the service and resource intent. And the very purpose of this system is to manage the complexity and help operator to keep the state of the network in one place and then down through the day to orchestrate it seamlessly and then configure the processes in the way that they can be implemented as zero touch operations. And the second key part of the overall solution is the Network Immune System provided by BT Research, which is the very advanced AI-enabled security solution which is designed to prevent, detect and respond to the different threats which could occur on the network. So basically these two solutions or systems are preintegrated in order then to realize the overall end-to-end use cases which we believe could be important for the operator to consider.
(03:18):
Then if we look at the overall demo scenarios and demo flow, we are trying to be very practical and demonstrate the overall scenario end-to-end. And we managed to realize the overall order-to-cash scenario and also we have included the two type of the closed loop operations use cases. First is related to the security and we have demonstrated the way how the orchestration system could react to the security problems which could occur in the network. And the second use case is related to the end-to-end network slice assurance use cases where we are managing orchestration to basically guarantee the quality of service of which is being proposed to the enterprises. And this is basically the set of the demo scenarios and the demo flow and we are very excited to see that these sort of ideas are very well understood by operators which we talked with and we are looking forward to implement these scenarios in real production systems.
Richard Thurston, TelecomTV (04:16):
That's really interesting Alexander. Thank you for sharing that with us.
Alexander Valchuk, Ericsson (04:20):
Thank you very much.

This catalyst project showcases the potential of AI-enhanced OSS/BSS solutions to drive Ericsson's business growth, demonstrating practical use cases with immediate impact, such as autonomous network operations, policy-based secure network slicing and real-time service assurance. It shows how advanced agentic AI, orchestration and assurance capabilities can work together and be rapidly prototyped to solve real-world challenges, including intent-driven automation and closed-loop, policy-based security monitoring.
*Please note that as the systems involved are not yet fully integrated, this is a proof of concept (PoC) to validate core functionalities and the industrialisation potential. The organisations are now collaborating to fully integrate the systems for use in the future and to further develop the end-to-end capabilities established in the catalyst project.
