Orange Developer, a developers' support programme and an Orange API platform
Providing Orange APIs via developer.orange.com promotes developer creativity and the development of innovative services based on Orange's main solutions Today, the catalogue of Orange APIs, which are public or accessible under a partnership contract, is divided into 3 groups:
- APIs which are based on its core operator assets: identity, payment, communications and the cloud;
- APIs related to the IoT (Internet of Things) and proximity;
- APIs dedicated to services for Africa and the Middle-East.
To help developers integrate those APIs, Orange is constantly adapting its documentation on market standards (Swagger) and publishes code samples and open source SDKs (Software Development Kits) on the GitHub platform.
Orange welcomes developers from all countries with personalised support and can feature their services with adhoc promotions in countries where Orange is present. [
Orange Partner: the entry point towards collaborative innovation opportunities
The Orange Partner programme groups together the innovation opportunities involving Orange and its partners, start-ups and developers. In an approach to listen to its partners and support their ongoing development, Orange has developed the website partner.orange.com.
The site offers them access to a wide range of resources for developing their projects, such as:
- development kits for the IoT (4G, LoRa),
- a service to test their applications with Orange customers,
- typical APIs use-cases, expert perspectives and feedback from over a hundred partners
- access to various start-up support mechanisms (Orange Fab accelerator and financing via Orange Digital Ventures or other funds in which Orange is a stakeholder).
They also receive support from around fifty experts (in marketing, technical or business development) with whom they can interact directly. [
Two start-ups which use Orange APIs
Sycelim , a Côte d'Ivoire start-up specialising in the development of web and mobile applications, integrated the SMS API in one of its solutions to improve SMS contact between healthcare providers and insurers. (read their story on www.partner.orange.com/partner/sycelim).
Sharalike , American start-up accelerated by Orange Fab France, specialising in the automatic creation of animations, integrated the Cloud API in its service to enable Orange France customers to save and share videos created by Sharalike, via their Orange Cloud.
