ZTE contributes three solutions to address the challenges of the video industry in the 5G era

Via ZTE Press Center

May 10, 2019

10 May 2019, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major global provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the mobile internet, today announced that ZTE has contributed three solutions to address the challenges of the video services in the 5G era at Video Exchange Asia 2019.

At the event, Gu Haifeng, Global Marketing Director of ZTE Big Video, delivered a keynote speech on the opportunities and challenges of the video industry in the 5G era. According to Gu Haifeng, operators are confronted with three major challenges when developing video services: the lack of data mining ability, the content decentralization driven by new services, such as OUC and UGC, as well as the bandwidth pressure resulting from video transmission.

In a bid to address these challenges, ZTE has proposed three corresponding solutions. First, ZTE provides new services including personalized display, precise recommendation, smart search, content audit, diversified advertising, and man-machine interaction, backed up with the AI technologies such as content semantic understanding and deep learning.

Second, at Mobile World Congress 2019, ZTE released the 5G Live TV solution based on the Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) CDN capabilities. Targeting sports games and large events, this solution leverages the vCDN and computing capabilities of MEC to provide a shoot-and-transmit multi-angle viewing option, significantly improving the viewing experience.

Third, the upgraded OTT multicast solution can flexibly deploy multicast replication points and dynamically create multicast lists, thereby greatly reducing the bandwidth occupancy of backbone networks for operators.

Video Exchange Asia 2019 was held in Bangkok, Thailand, focusing on the global video industry in the 5G era. At the two-day event, ZTE shared its advanced video technologies and application achievements with industry partners.

As a leading provider of Big Video end-to-end solutions in the industry, ZTE has been committed to providing end users with premium experience and ultimate control of Big Video services. ZTE also helps operators present a wide range of services, including content ingestion, service management, content delivery and in-depth operation, boosting the business success of video services.
