Mobile Technology is Reinventing the Indie Music Industry

Thousands of fans of Latin indie music from around the world will be in New York from July 7 – 11, 2015 for the 16th annual Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC). Comparable to the Sundance Film Festival, but for independent music, LAMC brings the most extensive gathering of Latinos in music entertainment in search of what’s next in the Latin music scene.

Verizon’s Vice President of Cultural Engagement, Javier Farfan, will take center stage by participating in a panel, “D.I.Y. 2.0.: Rebooting the Indie Latin Artist in the Digital Era.” He will be joined by representatives from other powerhouse brands and share his views on the influence of technology in the shift of the music industry, the impact of the digital world in evolving career paths of today’s indie artists and Verizon’s role in enabling indie artists to successfully pursue their passion and delivering on the promise of a brighter future.

As smartphones, tablets, apps and social media continuously revolutionize how music is delivered and consumed; Verizon is helping fuel the do-it-yourself, digital culture for the indie music world through its network and investment in artists. In addition to supporting events like LAMC, Verizon has introduced Música Unsigned, an indie band contest that arms artists with mobile technology to develop shareable social media content in their journey to win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with a mega-producer and free studio time.

Find out what’s next in the music scene by following the @LAMC, @VerizonLatino and @VerizonNews Twitter handles, and follow Verizon’s participation at LAMC using #VerizonLive from July 7 to 11.
