ARRIS launches retail 'Wi-Fi 6' gigabit mesh across three bands

Via commscope

Jul 11, 2019

ARRIS today announced the availability of two groundbreaking Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) mesh systems. The ARRIS® SURFboard mAX™ Gigabit Wi-Fi® Pro and Plus systems are the first true tri-band Wi-Fi 6 mesh systems, and will be available at major retailers and SURFboard.com this month.

ARRIS built both systems around the newest Wi-Fi 6 standard featuring the latest wireless and modulation technologies including OFDMA and High Order Modulation. Wi-Fi 6 enables multi-Gigabit speeds across a growing range of connected devices to accelerate everything that consumers do online today—from video streaming, to smart home automation, to gaming and downloads. Wi-Fi 6 also unlocks a new set of future services and experiences—including 8K, augmented reality, advanced smart cloud services, and more.

ARRIS SURFboard mAX Gigabit Wi-Fi systems are the only devices on the market to use Wi-Fi 6 on each of three separate bands with high-end 4x4 antennas and mesh technology.

Simply put, ARRIS SURFboard mAX systems are the highest performing home Wi-Fi 6 solutions available today. SURFboard mAX Pro delivers breathtaking speeds of up to 11Gbps and mAX Plus delivers speeds of up to 7.8Gbps, ensuring consumers get the most out of their internet connection—today, and far into the future. Both are available as a system and as a standalone router. The standalone router offers up to 3,000 sq. ft. of coverage, while the system provides seamless Gigabit Wi-Fi for homes up to 6,000 sq. ft.

‘SURFboard mAX Manager’ iOS and Android apps enable simple and secure setup and management and Amazon Alexa onboard enables voice-controlled guest Wi-Fi management, parental controls, and more.

"SURFboard mAX Wi-Fi systems are the best you can buy—period,” said Evan Groat, vice president, Consumer Products Group, ARRIS (recently acquired by CommScope). “We did our research and took the time to get them right, maximizing the full potential of Wi-Fi 6, tri-band, and mesh. The result is the world’s first true tri-band Wi-Fi 6 mesh systems. They offer performance that no other system can match. With SURFboard mAX systems, you can rest assure that you’ll have the technology to power the latest, most exciting connected experiences for many years to come.”
