Telia Company invests in frequencies in the 700 MHz band in Sweden. The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority today announced the results of the license auction that started on December 4, 2018. Telia Company wins 2x10 MHz in the 700 MHz band.

Telia Company’s ambition is to continue connecting the parts of Sweden where the opportunities are insufficient to fully take advantage of the possibilities that digitalization renders. These areas will have step-by-step increased coverage and capacity. It also entails a favorable position for Telia Company regarding nationwide 5G-services.

“The frequency that we have acquired is connected to a coverage obligation and we will continue to aim at having Sweden’s by far best quality and coverage. It also gives Telia the possibility to position ourselves with nationwide 5G services. The 700 MHz band will be a great complement to the other frequencies that we use in our mobile network,” says Anders Olsson, CEO of Telia Sweden.

The price for the frequency block that Telia Company won in the auction is approximately SEK 1.4 billion.
