BOSTON--With Q3 results just around the corner it is worth remembering that in Q2 2019 the global tablet Applications Processor (AP) market grew 14 percent year-over-year growth to reach $472 million, according to Strategy Analytics Handset Component Technologies service report, “Tablet Apps Processor Market Share Q2 2019: Apple Dominates with 42 Percent Share.
This Strategy Analytics research report calculates that Apple, Intel, Qualcomm, MediaTek and Samsung LSI captured the top-five revenue share spots in the global tablet applications processor (AP) market in Q2 2019. Apple extended its tablet AP market share leadership with 42 percent revenue share in Q2 2019 followed by Intel with 19 percent and Qualcomm with 17 percent.
Sravan Kundojjala, Associate Director, commented, “Despite continued shipment decline, the global tablet AP market showed signs of stability in terms of average selling prices (ASPs), thanks to a shift in mix towards higher performance APs. In terms of architecture trends, Strategy Analytics estimates that x86-based tablet APs accounted for 13 percent of total tablet APs shipped in Q2 2019. Intel’s strength in the Windows ecosystem helped but Qualcomm’s persistent efforts in Windows PCs could see more competition in this segment.”
Stuart Robinson, Executive Director of the Strategy Analytics Handset Component Technologies service, added, “Apple, HiSilicon, Qualcomm and Samsung LSI all registered a shipment growth in the tablet AP market in Q2 2019. Both HiSilicon and Samsung LSI improved their share at Huawei and Samsung Mobile, respectively and gained market share in Q2 2019. Qualcomm, on the other hand, scored multiple tablet design-wins with its modem-integrated Snapdragon 600 and 400-series of APs and gained share.”
