Josef Urban, Head of Software and Security Research, Nokia Networks

Nokia is developing cloud, SDN and NFV in the context of mobile networks. As an example of how operators are requesting more interoperability and openness in their networks, Nokia supports different multiple cloud stacks in its cloud application manager, so that virtual network functions can described once and then be deployed in various ways by the operator. It has started a couple of Proofs of Concept, looking at virtualised core network functions around IMS, including a virtualised cloud-based VoLTE solution, which will be commercially available by the end of 2014.
