IP Infusion’s disaggregated cell site gateway solution validated by Comsol Networks in Telecom Infra Project lab trial

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – IP Infusion, a leading provider of network disaggregation solutions for telecom and data communications operators, today announced that Comsol Networks, a leading provider of enterprise-grade wireless infrastructure, validated IP Infusion’s OcNOS® network operating system in the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) Disaggregated Cell Site Gateway (DCSG) solution in its lab in South Africa.

The trial evaluated how disaggregated networking can seamlessly function in Comsol’s existing network infrastructure, usingthe OcNOS® network operating software from IP Infusion, open network switches from Edgecore Networks, and integration services by Infin8Africa. Following this lab trial which successfully completed rigorous testing for TIP compliance and Comsol requirements, Comsol will now proceed with a field trial using TIP DCSG.

“At Comsol, we believe innovation is important to provide the best services to our customers.  Open and disaggregated networking technology using IP Infusion’s OcNOS network operating system is an innovative solution in the way networks are designed and deployed,” said Mauritz Lewies, CTO, Comsol Networks.

“This successful trial of our DCSG solution is another proof point that our OcNOS network operating system accelerates disaggregated networking for service providers and delivers TIP-compliant and advanced services at a lower total cost of ownership,” said Atsushi Ogata, President and CEO, IP Infusion.

“Edgecore Networks is pleased to have worked with Comsol Networks and IP Infusion on this disaggregated networking solution to verify the Edgecore open network switches in this TIP Community Lab trial.  The Edgecore and IP Infusion combination is proving to be an excellent match for DCSG solutions around the world. We continue to provide open networking solutions for a wide range of use cases for optical, data center, service provider and enterprise network operators,” said George Tchaparian, CEO, Edgecore Networks.

“This disaggregated solution enables a more comprehensive, end-to-end holistic solution, helps carriers to reduce CapEx and offers the flexibility to select the suppliers of choice for their software and hardware. IP Infusion’s OcNOS has multiple new and legacy features to provide the best DCSG option for Comsol Networks,” said Nigel van Tura, CEO, Infin8Africa.

DCSG was developed within TIP’s Open Optical & Packet Transport (OOPT) Project Group and uses open, standard-based, disaggregated network technologies to target several opportunities in operators’ IP aggregation networks. “This successful trial, which evaluated OcNOS as a network operating system for DCSG solutions, adds another verification to the growing list of lab validations of IP Infusion’s network operating system,” said David Hutton, Chief Engineer, Telecom Infra Project. “As a trusted partner, IP Infusion is matching our high standards for innovation, TIP compliance and resiliency for service provider networks.”
