OPNFV – the Open Platform for NFV - made a huge splash back in 2014 when it was created by the Linux Foundation. The stated aim at the time was to create a carrier-grade, integrated, open source reference platform – that would enable CSPs to accelerate the introduction of new products and services. Leading the OPNFV charge throughout this time has been Heather Kirksey of the Linux Foundation. With the platform’s ninth release announced recently, and the next one on its way, what does the future hold for the group, especially with so much focus now on the work of the CNTT as operators look towards operationalising cloud native in their networks?
