Sunil Khandekar, CEO, Nuage Networks

We did ‘Intent’ before it was fashionable, Sunil tells Guy Daniels. In setting out to solve the ‘meta problem’ of connecting users to their applications wherever they might be in the private or public cloud, Nuage was nicely on hand to extend the reach of the SD-WAN as that gained importance in the market. SD WAN, he said, was designed to change the operational model and offer ‘on-demand’ and automation, but Nuage’s own Virtualized Network Services (VNS) approach was already taking a much broader approach and was capable of connecting corporate users wherever they were. “We like to think of the SD-WAN and its capabilities as just a subset of our VNS,” he says.

"We are collaborating with Intel on many different topics;… on server processing, on NIC card performance and Intel has also started an initiative, very important initiative, I might add, an open source initiative called open security controller…. OSC is about helping enterprises manage their security infrastructure because it’s rather disparate its bespoke but you need again some sort of orchestration mechanism to tie all those assets in with the new way of doing software-defined security"
