More than anything, says Ranga, CSPs need to ensure that customers’ applications are portable across a variety of both private and public clouds. Without a ‘true’ software defined infrastructure, attaining and (as important) maintaining that portability would be difficult to impossible. Compute and storage convergence is an important trend, he says, and with telcos building huge stores of content data involving hundreds of terabytes, they need a ‘scale-out’ storage facility. That’s what Red Hat brings to the party.
