From Linux to Cloud – how did Red Hat do it?

Paul J. Cormier, President, Products & Technologies, Red Hat

Everyone will soon be wearing a Red Hat, certainly when it comes to cloud computing. The company was born when Linux was young and has linked its destiny closely to the Open Source environment. This means, says Paul Cormier, President of Products and Technologies, that whatever you want to do with – or in – the cloud, Red Hat is there. Whether it is a private, hybrid or public solution – even if you want to launch multiple clouds – that is the lifeblood of the company. Linux started life playing to the commodity model, but it has become an innovation enabler. Open Source is, well, open says Cormier. Developers are using new technologies before they become public and that brings innovation, and then some.
