Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and América Móvil, S.A.B. de C.V. (AMX) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting sustainability actions in the region through collaboration in key areas such as the circular economy, industry decarbonization, energy efficiency, and digital inclusion.

This strategic alliance underscores the strong commitment of both companies to sustainability and reaffirms their dedication to creating positive change in the region. As part of this agreement, Ericsson and América Móvil will join forces to identify and promote initiatives that align with their sustainability strategies and objectives, with the goal of maximizing their impact.

Daniela Lecuona Torra, Investor Relations and Sustainability Officer in América Móvil, said: "We are very aligned with Ericsson regarding the environmental and social objectives we pursue. We are excited to announce this partnership, which will have a significant impact in our region of operations. At América Móvil, as leaders in the telecommunications industry, we are aware of the responsibility and capability we have to make a better world possible."

The agreement includes the creation of mechanisms for exchanging knowledge and best practices between the parties. The companies will work together to optimize their actions and knowledge to address environmental and social challenges more efficiently, promoting sustainable development in the telecommunications sector.

As part of this agreement, on December 13th, at the Digital Library of the National Biodiversity Pavilion of UNAM, and in collaboration with the Carlos Slim Foundation, both companies joined forces and implemented a digital laboratory called "Digital Lab" aimed at secondary school students. In this space, volunteers from Ericsson and Telcel/América Móvil conducted a hands-on programming workshop focused on video game development for more than 70 young people.

This initiative aims to inspire the participating children to explore the world of technology and programming in a fun way, strengthening their digital skills and fostering their interest in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Fabián Monge, President for North Latin America and the Caribbean at Ericsson, says: "This agreement marks a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainable development in Latin America. Through collaboration and knowledge exchange, we are forging a future where technology and innovation play a fundamental role in protecting our planet and the well-being of society. We are very excited to work hand in hand with América Móvil to drive positive change in the region."

The collaboration represents a solid commitment to building a more sustainable and equitable environment in the region. By joining forces, Ericsson and América Móvil are establishing a model of collaboration in the sector that will benefit both communities and the environment.
