BlackBerry and Samsung Collaborate on Enhanced Digital Transformation Solutions

Via Blackberry Newsroom

Jun 27, 2018

WATERLOO, Ontario, June 27, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BlackBerry Limited (NYSE:BB) (TSX:BB) today announced a multi-year strategic relationship with Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. to collaboratively develop and bring to market integrated solutions to accelerate the digital transformation and Enterprise of Things initiatives of their shared business customers.

The companies will focus on applying Samsung’s extensive device solutions and BlackBerry’s capabilities in endpoint security and management to deliver improved workforce productivity and enable the emergence of new business models. One of the first outputs of this partnership will be that joint enterprise customers using cutting-edge Samsung devices, such as mobile phones, tablets, wearables and the Samsung DeX mobile desktop experience, will gain the ability – out-of-the-box – to manage all those devices on a single pane of glass via the BlackBerry Universal Endpoint Management (UEM) platform.

The extended relationship builds on the companies’ multi-year partnership, first announced in 2014, that brought to market several enterprise mobility solutions based on the Samsung Knox, BlackBerry UEM and BlackBerry SecuSUITE platforms for secure endpoint management and mission-critical communications.

“Our clients will not compromise on security and are increasingly demanding integrated end-to-end solutions for digital transformation across their businesses. In Samsung, we have a partner that fully understands these demands and is moving quickly with us to address them,” said Vito Giallorenzo, SVP of Strategic Partnerships, BlackBerry “With Samsung’s exciting lineup of mobility and hardware solutions, we see a lot of opportunity to pair them with the legendary security of BlackBerry software platforms to address a well-understood market need and the fast-emerging possibilities in the Enterprise of Things.”

“This announcement underscores our focus on delivering large scale digital transformation solutions leveraging the breadth of Samsung’s offerings,” said Sean Kae, EVP of Global B2B Services, Samsung Electronics. “With the recommitment to our strategic partnership with BlackBerry, we believe that we will be able to accelerate the technology we bring to the market and transform the workplace together.”

Customer Testimonials

“Security is our number one concern. When we deploy a mobile device, security is extremely important to us and BlackBerry provides that solution for us. When we look at the BlackBerry UEM management system combined with the Knox platform on a Samsung device, we believe that we deploy superior technology. It gives us confidence as an organization.” – Bryan M. Larkin, Chief of Police, Waterloo Regional Police Service

“Mobile connectivity is paramount in the way in which we deliver services. Samsung devices and BlackBerry software enable our mobile workforce to have better connectivity to our patients and better connectivity to VHA’s back office team. It has simplified communication with our staff, improved patient safety by providing visibility into when and where our staff are providing service, and has enabled a heightened level of productivity into our operations that’s allowed us to grow with minimal additional overhead.” - Drew Wesley, Chief Information Officer, VHA Home Healthcare
