Desktop virtualisation ticks so many boxes that it's emerging as a strong direction for what Bob Dennelly of Panduit calls Enterprise 2.0. He tells Martyn Warwick that the low-powered (in an electrical sense) thin client desktop linked to the cloud not only means that the corporate IT requirement can evolve easily as applications and needs change, but that it's now set up to be powered straight from the Ethernet cable. Desktop virtualisation is therefore the route to ultra-low electricity consumption and lower workspace cooling costs.
