KPN leads the way in online security for SMEs

Via KPN

Nov 26, 2019

KPN is expanding its internet subscriptions for entrepreneurs in small- and medium-sized businesses with Extra Safe Internet (Extra Veilig Internet), so that they can do business online even more securely. Research shows that in recent years cybercrime has become highly professionalized. In 2018, two thirds of companies were targeted by a cyberattack*. Entrepreneurs are working ever more online and the number of viruses and malware is increasing. That’s why KPN is now increasing the security of every KPN ONE SME internet connection from its own network. With this, KPN is taking another step in its ambition to ensure that the entrepreneurial Netherlands is always in business.

“Internet is more important than ever for entrepreneurs. To do business online, they need a secure and reliable connection. That’s why we’re the first Dutch provider to use our own network to protect our customers against viruses, malware, and ransomware on unsafe websites thanks to both a DNS- and a web filter. So that they are always in business and can trade without worries”, says Jilles Limburg, Director of marketing at KPN Business Market.

With the new Extra Safe Internet, entrepreneurs on the KPN network are protected against unsafe websites that contain viruses, malware, and ransomware. KPN blocks these websites on the basis of a DNS- and web filter in the network. This way, KPN can ensure that entrepreneurs can use the internet more securely. In addition, KPN always advises supplementing this service with anti-virus software from, for example, F-Secure. Extra Safe Internet works for all of our customers’ devices, and those of their employees and guests, that are connected to the fixed network (also via WiFi), via laptops, smartphones, network equipment (such as printers) and also smart devices (such as thermostats and smart speakers).

KPN customer research shows that the internet is indispensable for entrepreneurs. The internet must always work, be fast, stable, and secure. That’s why KPN is improving service levels, so that from now on any internet disruptions can be resolved as standard within eight offices hours. What’s more, customers have the option of an even higher service level resolution time of eight clock hours (24/7). Thanks to the combination of Extra Safe Internet and improved service levels, KPN ensures that entrepreneurs are always in business.

Current KPN ONE SME internet customers will also benefit from the new services at no extra cost. The new services will be offered to them in phases early next year. They will be informed about this in advance by KPN.
