ZTE releases a new 5G flexhaul product with FlexE tunnel technology for 5G transport network

Via ZTE Press Center

Jul 3, 2017

30 June 2017, Shanghai – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 00d0063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, announced the release of ZXCTN 609, the latest solution in the company’s 5G Flexhaul series of high-performance transmission network products, to support operators in building networks ready for next-generation services.

“Internet of everything" from 5G vision brings revolutionary network performance with diverse applications. The current transport network architecture and technologies are facing great challenges to meet requirements such as high bandwidth, low latency, flexible connections, high reliability and SDN-based open network functions.

ZTE 5G Flexhaul is a new end-to-end network solution for 5G transport. It is provided for fronthaul, midhaul and backhaul with the same product series on the basis of flexible on-demand deployment. An innovative FlexE tunnel is introduced to extend FlexE from an interface-level technology to a network-level technology to make ultra-low latency and network slicing come true.

At Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2017, ZTE demonstrates the ground-breaking performance of ZXCTN 609 with features of innovative 100GE and FlexE tunnel technologies. In the test with three ZXCTN 609 units that are connected by 100GE links, the FlexE tunnel is used to create different end-to-end network slices which are isolated from each other. With the Flex tunnel, the minimum forwarding delay per node can be less than 0.5us, and the protection switchover can be done within 1ms. It shows better performance than any other Ethernet technologies, perfectly meeting the ultra-high reliability and low latency requirements of 5G URLLC services,

Working together with a large number of major global operators, ZTE has been actively promoting standardization of the 5G transport. ZTE will provide competitive and low-cost 5G transport solutions for operators on the basis of great technical innovations. Transport network will be built prior to 5G deployment, and ZTE is ready for presenting competitive products and solutions to the market.
