ZTE Pre5G Massive MIMO solution helps China Mobile meet user data surge at international sports event

Via ZTE Press Center

Jul 5, 2017

5 July 2017, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, announced that the company’s proprietary Pre5G Massive MIMO solution was successfully deployed by China Mobile to support live mobile video streaming and other high-speed wireless data services for the Jilin City International Marathon 2017.

ZTE’s industry-leading Pre5G Massive MIMO solution helped China Mobile’s branch in Jilin support a 757% surge in mobile data usage during the marathon, which attracted almost 10,000 participants, with 50,000 viewers watching real-time video streams of the event online. This year, top athletes from the United States, U.K., Germany, Kenya and Ethiopia joined the annual international sports event in Jilin, northeast China.

The Pre5G Massive MIMO solution, also known as 3D-MIMO, helps operators increase increasing their spectrum efficiency by six to eight times. With the industry’s smallest and lightest design, ZTE’s Pre5G Massive MIMO solution is easy to install, and supports a wide range of frequency bands including 2.3GHz, 2.6GHz , 3.5GHz. Pre5G Massive MIMO can be integrated with existing networks seamlessly , improving the cell throughput, and delivering excellent user experience.

Using Pre5G Massive MIMO for communication assurance was an active practice in which China Mobile Jilin took an innovative approach to enhance network quality. China Mobile Jilin continue to partner with ZTE in improving network architecture and enhancing customer experience.

In 2014, ZTE became the first to propose the Pre5G concept and its solutions, leading the way for 4G LTE operators to evolve their networks for 5G. Pre5G can help increase system capacity of 4G LTE networks by up to 8 times and average user bandwidth by 5 times, with support for up to 100 times more connections. ZTE’s Pre5G solutions also support LTE-A Pro technologies under the 3GPP, such as Massive CA, UDN, 256QAM, LAA, LWA, and NB-IoT. Based on 4G networks, Pre5G dramatically reduces network construction costs, allows rapid deployment, and greatly enhances cost effectiveness.

ZTE’s Pre5G technologies support operators evolve their 4G networks to 5G in different scenarios including Giga+ MBB, Massive IoT, and Cloudization. ZTE’s Pre5G solutions are deployed in more than 60 networks in over 40 countries including China, Japan, Austria, Singapore, Spain, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia.
