Turkcell and Huawei demonstrate 4.5G LiTRA application

Ankara, Turkey, November 23, 2016: Turkcell in cooperation with Huawei, has successfully demonstrated the first LiTRA (LTE integrated Trunked Radio) application in Turkey based on its 4.5G network – one of the world’s leading 4.5G networks.

LiTRA is an LTE based trunk service that enables mission critical communication. It is fully compliant with 3GPP standards and is easy for operators to deploy with a minimum upgrade based on live LTE networks. The advantage of coverage and capacity of an operator’s LTE network sets LiTRA apart when it is compared to traditional PMR (Private Mobile Radio) solutions.

While the ecosystem of mission critical communications is fast maturing especially in the areas of smartphones, drones and cameras, Turkcell believes emergency services (such as ambulance and fire services) and companies across vertical industries will benefit from LiTRA due to its advanced performance capacity.

The live demo showcased how LiTRA can guarantee the highest priority for public safety users. Both Push-to-Talk and Push-to-Video applications deliver voice, video, image and other rich content services to first responders. Additionally location based dispatching enables instant coordination between different teams on the offline map, which is prioritized for network use, ensuring uninterrupted critical communication.

Turkcell also believes that LiTRA can be widely applied in the public safety and enterprise markets by utilizing the potential of its live 4.5G network and realizing innovation in new services in the open market.
