Intel has been demonstrating its role in 5G by supporting numerous tests and trials as the 3GPP standards come online. It is also actively developing solutions for the emerging edge computing market, and sees many synergies between 5G and edge. In fact, edge computing promises to influence a number of network elements, from the radio access network to next generation central office, as hosted network functions move into the new local edge data centres.
