5G Americas announces election of Paul Greendyk of AT&T as Chairman

BELLEVUE, Wash. – May 18, 2017 – 5G Americas, the industry trade association and voice of 5G and LTE for the Americas, today announced the election of Paul Greendyk, Vice President, Mobile Core & Network Services of AT&T as Chairman of the Board of Governors through the end of 2017. Mr. Greendyk was elected as successor for the position by the Board of Governors at 5G Americas following the announced retirement of incumbent Chairman Tom Keathley, Senior Vice President for Architecture and Design at AT&T.

“Our organization welcomes Paul Greendyk as Chairman to lead us forward this year. Paul’s technology background and prior experience with 5G Americas will be instrumental in working closely with the Board of Governors,” remarked Chris Pearson, President of 5G Americas. “We are honored by the past service of Tom Keathley as Chairman of 5G Americas and celebrate his guidance surrounding 5th Generation technologies and our organization.”

Paul Greendyk is responsible at AT&T for the architecture, design, and delivery of advanced Mobile Core network functions and Network Services applications, and end-to-end services across Consumer, Enterprise, Internet of Things, and Government services. Paul is also leading significant components of AT&T’s Domain 2.0 Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) strategic initiatives. Paul is responsible for the virtualization of the Mobile Core and Network Services as part of AT&T’s overall strategy to move away from appliance based network platforms to virtualized, software based network functions and applications.

“5G Americas is an influential association in leading the mobile wireless industry in North, Central and South America toward 5G. I look forward to working with the association in my new role as Chairperson,” commented Paul Greendyk.

5G Americas' Board of Governors members include: América Móvil, AT&T, Cable & Wireless, Cisco, CommScope, Entel, Ericsson, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Intel, Kathrein, Mitel, Nokia, Qualcomm, Samsung, Sprint, T-Mobile US, Inc. and Telefónica.
