Dave Milham, Chief Architect, TM Forum

The TM Forum’s catalyst programmes are exploring use cases for zero touch automation, enabling service providers to reduce the time to bring new services into operation. However, more work still needs to be done on identifying the business capabilities that the necessary network APIs have to support, both externally to new ecosystem partners and also internally within the service providers to enable zero touch. This latter capability is what the TM Forum calls zero friction, because it believes zero touch automation is often associated with the historical processes of simply automating operational processes, whereas what is also required is automated onboarding and automated partnering.
