Ken Fricklas of Cablelabs, the research arm of the cable industry, talks with Martyn Warwick about why the move to IP means the world's cable operators are looking at all the same problems as their telco peers. The US cable industry is the main deliverer of Internet services and its insides are increasingly telco-like, with billing systems, operations systems, and so on, all on the same journey to NFV as cable moves away from the linear model of TV service.
