PCRF at HOT Mobile

Altice Labs' Policy Management (PCRF) solution entered commercial exploitation at HOT Mobile, Israel.

PCRF enables an operator to intelligently manage its network resources for data services and build differentiated offerings by allocating control policies to customer data sessions. The policies to be granted may depend on several factors (e.g.: subscription type, service, consumptions, access technology, time of day, location, etc.) and are managed in real time and can be modified in the course of a session.

This project will enable HOT Mobile to accommodate the growth of its customer base in the mobile data component and provide its teams with tools to improve the time-to-market of new data offerings while ensuring quality of service and greater control.

The solution is processing approximately 800.000 active data sessions simultaneously supporting three main use cases:

  • Fair-Usage : limiting bandwidth when users exceed their monthly quota;
  • Roaming : control and authorization of data sessions when the customer is roaming;
  • Bill-Shock Prevention : notice to users when roaming.

New projects associated with this solution are already identified at HOT Mobile, namely:

  • Support for new use cases related to roaming, group accounts, specific services (e.g.: games, social networks, etc.);
  • In a near future, HOT intends to introduce into its network the VoLTE service where Altice Labs PCRF will play a key role in the solution architecture.

The success of this project is an important asset in the expansion of this type of solutions in the market, which is particularly relevant in a context where investment in network quality is directly related to customer satisfaction.
