LEAG energy group is digitizing mine and power plants with T-Systems

- Contract awarded to establish independent, compliant IT in the cloud
- ServiceNow as automated IT platform for all service processes
Cloud computing for the mining industry: Lausitz-based energy and mining group LEAG has awarded T-Systems the contract to set up its independent IT. The order covers outsourcing of its complete IT infrastructure, SAP services from the cloud, Digital workplace and cloud-based service management. T-Systems beat out 18 competitors and won the company over with the high security standards of its German cloud data centers in particular.
As a result of its spin-off from Vattenfall, the new corporate division of Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG and Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG (LEAG) faced the task of unbundling its IT and setting up its own completely independent services. And it had to do so compliant with the requirements of Germany's mining laws and IT security laws for critical infrastructures.
Automated IT processes for greater efficiency
In future, LEAG will model all its processes for managing its IT services digitally. To do so, it will use ServiceNow, a service management software that T-Systems runs at one of its ultra-secure German data centers, which meet even the strictest compliance requirements. ServiceNow makes it possible to digitize end-to-end business processes, making them more efficient and more user-friendly.
"A focus on the future is a crucial factor for us. We are facing up to the digital transformation and want to embed digitization as a firm corporate value in our DNA. ServiceNow gives us streamlined processes and new concepts, helping to ensure our future viability," says Dr. Helmar Rendez, CEO of LEAG.
"Thanks to our proprietary data centers and extensive ecosystem of cloud partners, we can offer highly standardized cloud solutions reliably and with top security. We are pleased to be able to lend LEAG our active support in becoming a pioneer for digitization in their industry," says Frank Strecker, SVP T-Systems Cloud.
