Huawei and Wind River complete NFV integration test, enriching the NFV ecosystem

Via Wind River News

Nov 17, 2015

[Shenzhen, China, November 17, 2015] Huawei and Wind River have announced completion of an integration test for Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) network architecture in the multi-vendor environment at the NFV/SDN Open Labs, in Xi'an, China.

In the course of the cooperative development, Huawei and Wind River verified the integration capability among different layers of the NFV network architecture in which Wind River Carrier Grade NFV software platform Titanium Server has been validated with Huawei’s FusionServer E9000 server, vEPC/vIMSsoftware and MANO. The verification involved six types of use cases and 56 test cases. All test items passed the verification, enriching the NFV integration service experience library.

Huawei is committed to building the industry ecosystem with Wind River and other IT and CT (communication Technology) vendors,” said James Zhai, general manager of NFV Integration Services, Global Technical Services, Huawei. “Huawei aims to provide more NFV integration services and technical support for operators and industry partners based on its NFV/SDN Open Labs.”

“Service providers are looking for validated and market-ready end-to-end NFV solutions. To address this need, collaboration across the ecosystem is essential,” said Jim Douglas, senior vice president of marketing, Wind River. “The successful validation shows the commitment of Huawei and Wind River to build an open and cooperative industry ecosystem for NFV network evolution. We look forward to continuing and evolving our longstanding relationship with Huawei.”

In recent years, the NFV network architecture has been accepted by a growing number of operators and industry organizations. More new types of networks that are based on NFV technologies are emerging globally. During the NFV network evolution, operators, however, have faced numerous challenges. Interface standards differ for products of different vendors, making the multi-vendor integration a difficult problem for operators. Both of Huawei and Wind River adhere to the "open, cooperative, and innovative" principle. By leveraging NFV/SDN Open Labs, Huawei is working with partners to explore and drive NFV network technologies and helped operators to achieve business success. And by validating and pre-integrating hardware and software offerings, Wind River expands its Titanium Cloud partner ecosystem to deliver optimized solutions to help accelerate time-to-market for service providers and telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs) deploying infrastructure based on NFV.
