Kazakhtelecom launches the first commercial sovereign AI factory in Central Asia powered by Nvidia

Kazakhtelecom, the largest telecommunications operator in Central Asia, announces the launch of the region’s first commercial Sovereign AI Factory, powered by next-generation NVIDIA H200 GPUs. This initiative marks a significant milestone in building national AI infrastructure and will provide broad access to computing power across key sectors of the economy, supporting Kazakhstan’s national strategy to drive economic transformation through artificial intelligence.

The AI Factory is scheduled to go live in summer 2025. With an estimated total performance of 56.4 petaflops (FP16), the system will support high-volume data processing and the training of large-scale AI models. It includes high-performance accelerated computing, a robust high-speed network fabric, resilient data storage, and full access to the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software suite.

The platform will be delivered as a cloud service, providing accessible and secure AI infrastructure for government institutions, private businesses, startups, and universities throughout Kazakhstan. It will enable critical industries to harness advanced AI models and applications — including banking, mining, aviation, oil & gas, and construction.

“We are building a next-generation platform that will serve as the foundation for Kazakhstan’s digital sovereignty. In partnership with NVIDIA, our goal is to empower both the private and public sectors with the tools to create their own AI solutions, develop local expertise, and drive national innovation”, - stated Bagdat Mussin, Chairman of the Board at JSC Kazakhtelecom Bagdat Mussin.

“Every country wants the ability to shape its own technological future and tap into the incredible opportunities AI presents. By leveraging NVIDIA’s accelerated computing and full-stack AI platform, Kazakhtelecom is making a transformative leap for Kazakhstan and the region — empowering the local ecosystem to develop AI solutions tailored to national needs.”, - added Ronnie Vasishta, Senior Vice President of Telecoms at NVIDIA.

The cluster will be fully integrated with Kazakhtelecom’s nationwide distributed network infrastructure to ensure stability and scalability.
