Elisa strengthens its software expertise, hires nearly 100 AI and software experts

  • Elisa strengthens its position as an international digital service provider and hires nearly a hundred AI and software experts in its home market areas, Finland and Estonia.
  • The role of software expertise continues to grow as the networks become increasingly autonomous and the use of artificial intelligence in business operations becomes more common.
  • There is a particular demand for software experts who are also interested in contributing to the business success.

For several years now, Elisa has seen how software expertise has increasingly come alongside traditional engineering expertise. At the same time, artificial intelligence has become part of everyday life, creating value for both employees and Elisa's customers. Now Elisa hires nearly a hundred AI experts in Finland and Estonia.

"This supports Elisa’s ambitions and strategy to become even more robust provider of digital services. Our goal is to fill the open positions during the next 12 months," says Elisa's Executive Vice President, Production and Technologies, Sami Komulainen.

Finnish and Estonian operations closer together

The recruited experts will be located in Finland and Estonia. At the same time, cooperation between the countries will be strengthened and a foundation will be laid for an even stronger international software development organisation.

"Elisa already has strong expertise in network automation and in software development, including various applications such as entertainment services Elisa Viihde and Elisa Elamus. The key to reach highest level of agile maturity and value creation is to bring development team as close to business and clients as possible. Now our end-to-end development capabilities will be further strengthened, says Toomas Polli, Elisa’s Vice President, Digital Services Development and Chief Digital Officer.

Demand for tech experts that are interested in business

The beginning of the year is typically a busy time in the job market, with education fairs and applications periods taking place. Elisa's message to job seekers is that there is demand especially for AI and software developers interested in business.

“There is a growing demand for people who know technology and who also understand business – in other words, they are capable to see the business value that the code is enabling. This is emphasised at Elisa, as digital development projects have a direct impact on business operations and customers' lives, whether they are related to network automation, service applications or streamlining customer service with the help of artificial intelligence”, Polli continues.
